Introduction
In this session, we focus on Ezra 9:1-15, understanding Ezra’s prayer against exiles’ intermarriage with neighboring nations and his holy response after hearing of this evil. Ezra’s purpose in returning was to support rebuilding the community of faith, which consisted of personal altars, marriage altars, and parenting altars. God had forbidden intermarriage with nations because the foreign wives would lead the men in into idol worship. He was also preserving the birth of Christ by not mixing the lineage of the tribe of Judah.
