Introduction
In this session, Zechariah 10:5-12, we focus on understanding the prophetic double portion: firstly, the promise of God’s restoration, strength, and gathering of Israel, replacing weak, false leadership with divine care and punishing their enemies by destroying their cities.
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood God’s promised double harvest in restoring and punishing their enemies
- Understood the emptiness of idols and false Shepherds
- Appreciated God’s role and their role in simply asking the Lord.

Connecting
- Gather with two or more people for a community discovery bible study session.
- Start with a heartfelt prayer, inviting God to guide and bless your understanding.
- Explore the passage by reading it at least twice, using different Bible versions if available, then retell the story together as a group.
- Reflect and share the challenges and blessings you experienced from the previous study.
Comprehending
- Read Zechariah 10: 5-7. What double portion did God promise in restoring the oppressed house of Judah and Joseph and punishing their oppressors, or enemies
- Read Zechariah 10: 8-9. Describe God’s double blessings in these verses. What shows that God will return them as before or even make them better?
- Read Zechariah 10: 10-12. Where did God promise to gather the exile from? What did God reveal about these cities? Where was he to place them after they returned? What word shows double harvest?
- Read Zechariah 10: 8-12. What lessons are revealed about gathering the Exiles of Israel and defeating her enemies?

- Engage with the Bible—read, study, memorize, meditate, pray, listen, and live it out.
- List three lessons you have learnt as an agent of change that you would like to put into practice and teach others about.
- Take time and worship Jesus with the attributes revealed about Christ.
