The Bridegrooms’ message to the missionary, Philadelphian Bride
Introduction
In this session Revelation Chapter 3: 7-13, we focus on the state of the bride of Jesus Christ at Philadelphia that had little strength but still obeying him. This church could be described as a risk taking and serving fellowship, as a little strength but faithful fellowship, evangelizing fellowship, mission minded fellowship, care giving fellowship. The lord promised to open a door for them.

Revelation 3: 7-13
Audio Summary
Revelation 3:7-13
- Context:
- John conveys Jesus’ message to Philadelphia, the sixth of seven churches symbolizing the church’s 2,000-year journey, amidst heresies denying Jesus’ incarnation, using Luke 15 brothers for Jews/Gentiles.
- Philadelphia, meaning “brotherly love,” represents a mission-minded church thriving despite weakness, born during the Pentecostal missionary era.
- Commendation for Faithfulness (Revelation 3:7-10):
- Jesus, holy and true, with David’s key (absolute authority), praises Philadelphia’s obedience and loyalty despite little strength, opening doors no one can shut (v. 7-8).
- He promises to make their enemies (false Jews, Satan’s synagogue) bow before them, acknowledging His love, and to protect them from the coming global testing (v. 9-10).
- Mercy sustains their mission despite persecution and weakness.
- Encouragement and Promise (Revelation 3:11-13):
- Jesus urges them to hold fast to their faith, as He comes soon, ensuring their crown (v. 11); victors become pillars in God’s temple, bearing God’s name, the New Jerusalem’s name, and Jesus’ new name (v. 12).
- He calls all to hear the Spirit’s message (v. 13).
- Mercy rewards their love-driven service with eternal honor.
- Application:
- Emulate Philadelphia’s brotherly love and mission-minded faith, serving Jesus and others despite weakness—mercy opens doors, subdues enemies, and grants eternal citizenship in God’s city.
