Jesus is Presented in the Temple
Introduction
In this session, Luke 2: 21-52, introduces two main witnesses in the temple who confirmed that Jesus was indeed the salvation of the world, Simeon and Anna. The teachers of the law and the parents were also astonished by Jesus’ level of spiritual, moral and social growth.
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood the witnesses of Simeon and Anna about Jesus by looking at what they said.
- Understood the fivefold growth 🪴 by looking at Jesus model of growth.
- Appreciated how Jesus showed growth to his parents and his teachers

- Gather with two or more people for a community discovery bible study session.

- Explore the passage by reading it at least twice, using different Bible versions if available, then retell the story together as a group.
- Reflect and share the challenges and blessings you experienced from the previous study.
Comprehending
- Read Luke 2: 21-24. What is child dedication? How is it done in your church today? Describe what happened during the rite of passage when Jesus was presented in the temple.
- Read Luke 2:26-27. List 5 truths revealed about Simeon, the witness. 3. Read Luke 2: 28-34; 34-35. List 5 things Simeon was moved to say by the Holy Spirit about Jesus (His identity, His purpose)
- Read Luke 2:36-38. List 3 truths revealed about Anna. What did she say to the worshippers about the child Jesus?
- Describe Jesus’ fivefold growth 🪴 Luke 2: 40, 51-52.
- Read Luke 2: 41-50. Growth is revealed and measured by how you ask and answer questions, and by the company you keep. List 4 indicators that proved Jesus ‘ growth at the age of 12 years.

- List three lessons you have learnt as an agent of change that you would like to put into practice and teach others about.
