Queen Esther Keeps her Identity Secret
Introduction
In this session, Esther 2:12-23, we examine the details of Esther’s selection, a Jewish orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai. She became the new queen of Persia, succeeding Vashti after winning the king’s favour following a year of beauty treatments. The king held a banquet to honour Queen Esther. Esther keeps her nationality secret, as advised by Mordecai, who also uncovered a foiled plot to assassinate the king, a deed recorded in the royal chronicles.
