Introduction
In this session, Zechariah 9:1-8, we explore the prophecies concerning God’s judgment on Syria and the Philistine cities. These were partly fulfilled by Alexander the Great, who defeated the Medo-Persian Empire while promising protection for Judah and the Temple. Another fulfillment occurred before Jesus’ first coming, and the final fulfillment will happen when Jesus returns the second time. This demonstrates that God has sovereign control over nations and their downfall, ensuring that Israel will not be oppressed again. God promises to personally camp around His house (the Temple) as a guardian, preventing further foreign invaders from passing through and oppressing His people.
