Introduction
In this session, Luke 4: 1-13, Mathew 4: 1-11 and Mark 1:12-13. We introduce the threefold opposition to Jesus’ mission even before he started it by Satan (spirit of witchcraft). Jesus overcame him by the power of the experienced scriptures, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the power of sonship
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood how to overcome the threefold temptations by using the power of the scriptures
- Understood how the spirit of racism works in opposing the mission of God by looking at how the people of Jesus ‘ hometown reacted when Jesus mentioned the Gentiles.

- Read Luke 4: 1-13. What is a temptation? Where does temptation come from? What is the main purpose of temptation?
- Identify the threefold Temptations of Jesus in the wilderness? What is revealed about the temptations of Jesus Christ? How did he overcome the temptations? Luke 4: 4-133.
- Where does help come from in times of temptation? Psalm 121. Luke 4: 1, Mathew 3: 16-17.
