Introduction
In this session, Luke 2: 1-20, we are introduced to the good news as a person. When God became a human being and dwelt among them. People who believe that God lives with them rest from their fear, just as the shepherd left the sheep at night and went to seek him and later to tell others about this good news.
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood the best news ever taught about God becoming a man by listing down spiritual truths and physical, historical truths surrounding his coming to earth.
- Written down the exact best news ever preached by the angel, and how the shepherd responded to the good news to themselves and to others.
- Appreciated that pastors are the first to get the good news and that they share it with other people through preaching and teaching

Connecting
- Gather with two or more people for a community discovery bible study session.
- Start with a heartfelt prayer, inviting God to guide and bless your understanding.
- Explore the passage by reading it at least twice, using different Bible versions if available, then retell the story together as a group.
- Reflect and share the challenges and blessings you experienced from the previous study.
Comprehending
- Read John 1: 10-14. When God became a human being. (Incarnation, Emanuel). This is the best news in the bible next to the resurrection. List 5 spiritual truths revealed how God became a human. (Emanuel). How did his people receive this truth? How did the believers of this truth benefit?
- Read Luke 2: 1-7. List 5 physical, historical truths revealed about the birth of Jesus Christ. (Who were the human vessels used, when, how, and where?)
- Read Luke 2:8-9. Who were the first people to receive the most important news, that God has come to live with us -Emanuel? Who brought this good news? When was the good news preached to them? What did they do after hearing the good news for themselves and for others? Verses 15-20.
- Luke 2: 8-20. List down 5 things that happened between the angels and the shepherds the night Jesus was born.
- What was the exact good news preached to the shepherds? Verse 2: 10-12.
