Introduction
In this session, Revelation chapter 8 : 1-7, we focus on the meaning of the first four trumpet judgments. The Great Tribulation will take Place in three levels with increasing measure. Chapters 6 and 7 are called the 7 seals judgment (lower level), while chapters 8 to 19 are called the 7 trumpets judgment (mid-level), then the 7 bowls judgment (higher level). There was a silence in heaven while moving from lower-level judgments or plagues to higher-level judgments or plagues. Remember during the Day of the Lord in Egypt, God sent 10 plagues or judgements or tribulations in increasing measure, the last being the death of the firstborns in Egypt. During the plagues in Egypt, there was always a short silence. Why? Maybe to allow Pharaoh, Egyptians, and the Israelites in Egypt to reflect on the righteous Judge’s purpose of allowing the plagues, and perhaps turn to him.

The angels blew the four trumpets
Revelation 8: 7-13
Audio Summary
Revelation 8:7-13
- Context:
- John’s vision in Revelation 8:7-13 follows the seventh seal’s silence, introducing the first four trumpet judgments during the tribulation, post-rapture, as God reclaims His creation from sin’s corruption.
- The church is absent, raptured to heaven, while God uses natural judgments to cleanse the earth, targeting domains originally given to mankind.
- First Trumpet: Land Judged (Revelation 8:7):
- The first angel’s trumpet brings hail, fire, and blood, burning a third of the earth, trees, and all green grass, cleansing the land given to man (v. 7).
- Mercy limits the destruction to a third, preserving opportunity for repentance.
- Second Trumpet: Sea Judged (Revelation 8:8-9):
- The second angel’s trumpet causes a fiery mountain to fall into the sea, turning a third of the sea to blood, killing a third of sea creatures, and destroying a third of ships (v. 8-9).
- Mercy restrains the judgment, allowing time for people to turn to God.
- Third Trumpet: Rivers Judged (Revelation 8:10-11):
- The third angel’s trumpet brings a burning star named Bitterness, poisoning a third of rivers and springs, causing many deaths from bitter water (v. 10-11).
- Mercy partializes the judgment, sparing some waters to encourage repentance.
- Fourth Trumpet: Heavens Judged (Revelation 8:12-13):
- The fourth angel’s trumpet darkens a third of the sun, moon, and stars, causing a third of the day and night to lose light, leading to coldness and disruption (v. 12).
- An eagle proclaims “Woe” three times, warning of worse judgments to come with the remaining trumpets, urging repentance (v. 13).
- Mercy offers a final call to salvation before demonic judgments intensify.
- Application:
- Recognize God’s authority to cleanse His creation from mankind’s mismanagement; repent and surrender to Jesus now, heeding the eagle’s warning, to escape the escalating judgments and embrace His mercy.
