Grace for Service and Humility (1 Peter 5:1-7)
- Elders’ Role in Service: Peter, as fellow elder, witness to Christ’s sufferings, and sharer in future glory, urges elders to shepherd God’s flock willingly, not for money but eagerly; not lording over but as examples.
- Reward for Faithful Service: When the Chief Shepherd (Jesus) appears, elders receive the unfading crown of glory.
- Mutual Submission and Humility: Younger submit to elders; all clothe selves in humility toward one another, as God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
- Humble Under God’s Hand: Humble selves under God’s mighty power; at the right time, He will lift up in honour.
- Cast Cares on God: Give all worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
- Purpose: Grace means serving God’s people humbly, entrusting lives to Him amid persecution, leading to exaltation and security.
Application
- Serve willingly as examples, submit mutually in humility, cast anxieties on God who cares, and trust Him for exaltation while standing firm in grace.
