Winning troubled disciples, Apostles
Introduction
In this session, John 14:1-14, Jesus encouraged his troubled disciples by giving them over five reasons. They got troubled when Jesus said plainly that he would go away from them and leave them alone. The thinking of traveling alone and the opposition they had encountered opened the door of trouble.
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood the meaning of not letting our hearts be troubled
- Appreciated that the door of trouble is closed from within you, and you have control over trouble.

Group Study Time

Connecting
- Gather with two or more people for a community discovery bible study session.
- Start with a heartfelt prayer, inviting God to guide and bless your understanding.
- Explore the passage by reading it at least twice, using different Bible versions if available, then retell the story together as a group.
- Reflect and share the challenges and blessings you experienced from the previous study.
Comprehending
- What is trouble or being troubled? What do you do when in trouble? In John 14:1, what is revealed about trouble?
- From conversations in John 13: 33, 36-38, what caused the disciples to be troubled?
- Read John 14: 1-14. List all the disciples mentioned; what did each say to show they were troubled?
- Read John 14: 2-11, 12-14; identify and discuss 2 reasons Jesus gave his disciples why they should not be troubled while he is gone away from them.
Committing
- Engage with the Bible—read, study, memorize, meditate, pray, listen, and live it out.
- List three lessons you have learnt as an agent of change that you would like to put into practice and teach others about.
- Take time and worship Jesus with the attributes revealed about Christ.
