The Soul Winner’s Threefold Learning
Introduction
In this session, John 1:29-40, we learn how John the Baptist encountered and experienced Jesus, and how he expressed or manifested Him to John’s first disciples. We also see how these disciples reached out to those close to them, sharing their experience with others.
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood the soul winner’s threefold transformational learning process (conversion): 1. Encountering Jesus, 2. Experiencing Jesus, and 3. Expressing (communicating) Jesus to others.
- Appreciated John’s use of the phrase “Behold the Lamb of God.”

Connecting
- Gather with two or more people for a community discovery bible study session.

- Reflect and share the challenges and blessings you experienced from the previous study.
Comprehending
Read John 1:29-34
- How did John the Baptist encounter Jesus?
- How did John the Baptist come to know that Jesus was the Lamb of God and the Son of God?
- Why is Jesus referred to as the Lamb of God? (See verses 29 and 36.)
Reflect on John the Baptist’s witness
- List three ways John the Baptist made Jesus known to the world and to his disciples.

- Who were some of John the Baptist’s disciples mentioned in this passage?
- How did John the Baptist introduce Jesus to his disciples?
