- Scripture Focus: John 17:20-26—Jesus makes intercessory prayer for future generations and believers.
- Forms of Prayer:
- Breath prayer: A simple, often inaudible statement like “Lord Jesus” or “Have mercy on me” when overwhelmed.
- Prayer originates from the heart; God understands it before it’s spoken.
- The heart believes, the mouth confesses, leading to salvation, but even unspoken prayers are heard.
- Intercessory Prayer:
- Definition: Praying on behalf of others.
- Example: Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah, pleading with God not to destroy it if righteous people (50, 45, etc.) were found, standing between God and the cities.
- Jesus’ intercession:
- Prayed for the 11 apostles (Judas had left to betray Him).
- Prayed they see God’s glory and love one another.
- Extended prayer to future believers (verses 20-26).
- Jesus’ Prayer for Future Believers:
- Prayed for unity among them.
- Prayed they work together so the world knows God sent Jesus.

- Question posed: How can you pray for those not yet born?
- Praying for Future Generations:

- Encouragement to pray for future children and generations by faith.
- Future believers likened to travelers in foreign lands, needing prayers for strength.
- Spiritual Investment:
- A righteous person invests in their children and grandchildren, not just materially but spiritually through prayer.
- Example: We harvest the righteousness of past generations (e.g., Abraham’s covenant blessed Isaac, Solomon spared for David’s sake).
- God blesses a thousand generations of those who love Him.
- Abraham, a father of nations, invested through prayer for people yet to come.
- Call to Action:
- Invest spiritually by praying for children, grandchildren, and future generations.
- Declare a generation that knows and honors God, resisting opposition to His will.
- Jesus’ example: Prayed for the 11 and for us today through their testimony.
