Paul’s final advice to those walking on the path of grace
Galatians 6: 11-18
Audio Summary
Galatians 6:11-18
Context
- The session compares motivations for walking in the path of grace, focusing on doing good, helping others, and carrying burdens as a responsibility to prevent evil from prevailing through silence.
- False teachers boast in outward signs like circumcision to make a good impression and avoid persecution, without truly keeping the law.
- Paul boasts only in the cross of Christ, through which the world is crucified to him, emphasizing that new creation is what matters, not circumcision.
- Paul bears scars from the cross on his body and seeks no more trouble, concluding with peace, mercy, and grace.
Boasting in the Cross (Galatians 6:11-18)
- False Teachers’ Boast: False teachers compel circumcision to boast in flesh and avoid persecution for the cross, even though they do not keep the law themselves.
- Paul’s Boast: Paul boasts only in the cross of Jesus Christ, through which the world is crucified to him and he to the world.
- New Creation: Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts; what matters is new creation.
- Peace and Mercy: Peace and mercy come to those who follow this rule and to all God’s people.
- No More Trouble: No one should give Paul trouble, as he shows scars on his body belonging to Jesus from the cross.
- Grace: The grace of Lord Jesus Christ is with your spirit.
Application
- Do everything for God’s glory and others’ good, especially believers, boasting only in the cross to grow, crowd out works of world, Satan, flesh, and systems.
