Introduction
In this session, Chapter 2 Corinthian 5:1-10, we look at the comfort of awaiting the new body. We focus on understanding our three bodies, namely, earthy bodies, resurrected bodies, and glorified bodies, by comparing the bodies Jesus had. Rev 1:12-18. We will be challenged to serve people from what they should be, but not what they are, by comparing our motivations of service.

The comfort of awaiting the new body
2 Corinthians 5: 1-10
Audio Summary
2 Corinthians 5:1-10
Context
- Paul’s life of trouble for the gospel: received freely but lived costly; following Jesus through fire/waters tests faith, yet He protects.
- Corinthian church wounded, conflicted; Paul confronts for new perspective on bodies—earthly tents destroyed, heavenly eternal buildings prepared.
- Spirit as deposit guarantees new bodies; live by faith, not sight, aiming to please God, facing judgment for works (rewards/crowns), not sins (judged in Christ).
Eternal Perspective on Bodies (2 Corinthians 5:1-10)
- Earthly vs. Heavenly Bodies: Earthly bodies like tents destroyed; heavenly eternal buildings from God await, not human-made.
- Groaning for New Bodies: Groan in earthly bodies, longing to be clothed with heavenly dwelling, not found naked; burdened, desiring mortality swallowed by life.
- God’s Preparation: God prepared this, giving Spirit as deposit guaranteeing what’s to come.
- Living by Faith: Confident, by faith not sight; prefer absent from body (home with Lord) but present in body (away from Lord).
- Aim to Please God: Goal to please Him whether in body or not; all appear before Christ’s judgment seat, receiving due for deeds done in body, good or bad.
Application
- Live with eternal perspective, groaning for heavenly bodies guaranteed by Spirit; please God in all states, anticipating judgment of works for rewards.
