No condemnation and no separation to those in Christ Jesus
Romans 8: 28-39
Audio Summary
Romans 8:28-39
- Context:
- Guilt fears past and future wrongs; Holy Spirit counters it with hope (Maranatha, Revelation 22:20), linking to Romans 8:1-27’s freedom.
- Elder brother’s rejection (Luke 15) persists, but God’s purpose prevails over condemnation.
- All Things for Good (Romans 8:28):
- God works all—good or bad—for good for those loving Him, called by His purpose; Spirit assures this despite groaning.
- God’s Plan (Romans 8:29-30):
- Foreknown, predestined to Christ’s image, called, justified, glorified—past tense signals certainty; guilt can’t derail this destiny.
- No Separation (Romans 8:31-39):
- Nothing—trouble, persecution, famine, danger, death, angels, demons, time, space—separates us from God’s love in Christ (v. 35-39).
- More than conquerors through Christ’s love, not our works—groaning persists, but victory is sure (v. 37).
- Application:
- Spirit banishes guilt with no condemnation (v. 1) and no separation (v. 39), granting joy and sonship—live in hope, not fear, at God’s table.
